Stirrup leathers

I fear I must replace my ancient stirrup leathers. They have worn through to the core in several places which i dont think is good for my saddle flaps, and are getting uneven because of the Swiss cheese of extra half holes that have been punched in them as my leg has lengthened.

I’d like traditional leathers, not Webber or bottom adjustable, about 1" wide, not too thick, probably calfskin with a nylon core, low profile buckles, half holes, reasonably easy to get on and off the stirrup bars and adjust. I guess I’ll need 60" long. And black.

Any recommendations, please?

I found Passier stirrup leathers at Dover Saddlery. They were not the cheapest option nor the most expensive and they are lovely quality. Highly recommend.

I agree that Passier makes some nice ones. Also take a look at Prestige and see if they meet your requirements. I have a set and love them. Great quality, and I think they’d check your boxes.

I’ve switched over to the LeMieux Vector Pro leathers on both of my saddles. The Pros are a wider leather, and really kind of mold and disappear under the leg. TBD how long they will last. The buckles have an angled shape at the top, so that seems to help with bulk as well. I do think they lend a little bit of leg stability.

Love my Kavalkade leathers! calf with nylon core.

Thank you! Several options to consider that I hadn’t seen before!

I’ll add Antares and Prestige. I’ve been happy with both. The Antares have slightly softer calfskin if that matters to you.

@Laurierace - Wow! They’ve added so many items since the last time I looked in their website. Is it your daughter’s business?

The quality looks amazing! How do the halter sizes compare with Walsh?

I was going to suggest RLG! Really, really lovely leather and craftsmanship. I don’t have their leathers, but do have halters for each of my horses and love them.

I honestly don’t know how their sizes compare as I have never had a Walsh halter. The measurements are on the site though. And yes this is my daughter’s business, thanks for the kind words! She bought out a company called The Engraver last week who she has been working with for the past two years which is why there are so many new products on the site with more to be added.

I love, love, love, The Engraver products. I am local to them. My husband bought a GTO convertible from them 40 years ago, before I met him. Weird small world

When my daughter was in kindergarten she took money out of my purse without my permission and used it to buy a keychain that said “World’s Greatest Dad” on one side and they engraved Love, Olivia on the other side. This was at the Penn National Horse Show 24 years ago and he still uses it. Kind of cool that now she owns the company that engraved the keychain now!
