Can anyone tell me the best measurements for traditional stock ties? I like the ones with two pieces that are attached together to loop through in the back, but have no idea what length and width they should be.
I’ve never noticed much variation in size between the various brands sold. Maybe, buy one and see if you like it: they are not expensive.
Search for “126michelle1209” on Ebay.co.uk, she makes dozens of self tie stocks in a huge number of different designs. I only buy from her and people are always asking me where my stocks come from! Very reasonable international postage as well 
Edited to add they are nice and long with a shaped neck and loop through.
