I love to sew and think it would be fun to try making custom stock ties to sell. Somewhere I have a Suitability pattern that includes a stock tie, but I don’t know how “current” the style is. So a few questions:
-
Are traditional (untied) stock ties lined–i.e., made of 2 layers so no raw edges show?
-
Is the shape of a traditional stock tie just a long rectangle? Some look like they have a narrower neck, others just a rectangle.
-
What are suitable fabrics? Cotton of course, but how about silk or other fabrics?
-
Would there be a market for “custom” traditional stock ties or is this a ridiculous idea? (be kind…)
TIA!
