Has anyone had, or heard of a high end older French saddle, or saddles, being stolen in the Tuscon, AZ area or general southwest? I run an online high end used saddle business, and a saddle was offered to me that I think might not be the owners. I have no concrete basis, just enough of a gut feel that I thought I would do a bit of due diligence before I accepted the saddle. It could in fact be entirely legitimate, but just checking. Thank you!
You could always contact the manufacturer with the serial numbers and see if they’ve been notified.
Yes check the numbers with the manfac. When it doubt pass on one that seems fishy. My first saddle I bought off of a local person, it turned out to be stolen and a local detective knocked on our door and gave us the bad news. The saddle went back to the owner as it should and we were out of the money. It something that cant always be avoided but sucks when it happens.
THIS PERSON IS BAD NEWS!! They are selling FAKE saddles. If you check EquineNow, they have several listings. They started with a CWD that they were selling on there. I agreed to purchase it, they immediately sent me an invoice through Google Wallet (NOT a safe payment method) and made up some bs story about why they couldn’t get a PayPal. I backed out with the parting words “If you ever decide to take PayPal, I’d be interested”. They immediately emailed me back that I could send the money to the “sister in-law’s PayPal”. I sent the money, she made a stink because PayPal was holding the money for 60 days but agreed to ship it. She went as far as telling me that USPS had sent her an email about package delays due to TX flooding, then stopped responding when I asked for tracking info. Saddle of course never showed up. Fortunately thanks to PayPal, I got my money back, but what a pain in my ass.
Their email was linked to “Aarin Yost”. Email was horselufetherapy@yahoo.com. The contact name on the ad was “Sarah” and I sent the PayPal money to “KLC Photography”. Email for paypal was “gabbydog87@yahoo.com”. Location on the EquineNow ad was Tucson, AZ.
I’m 99% sure this same person contacted me about a possible trade on an Hermes saddle I have listed on eBay in exchange for a CWD. Sounded very fishy and used pictures that I could’ve sworn I had seen before. Zero feedback user(s) were dennisgrimstea-0 and myhorsepoe111-6. Locations for the users were Tucson, AZ and Woodbury, MN.
Buyer beware for sure!!!
PonyLove222 the saddle or person I have suspicions about is not related to any of the brands or names you listed - but thanks for speaking up!
Good to hear! I don’t think she’s just selling the CWD’s anymore though (last time I checked there were some Butet’s and Antares thrown in the mix). And I don’t think he/she is using their real name for any of this - People search and google didn’t turn up anything for names or the email addresses. Best of luck! This ordeal sure made me more careful about buying saddles
