Turns out I know the owners via our breed registry. These are custom saddles and they seem to have some neat options. I’m curious what others think but I may be able to get one on trial later this Spring when my young stallion/endurance prospect is back from the trainers.

Love mine! It is 15 years old and fits just about anything I put it on. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. It is light and I use it with a Len Brown Corrector pad. All A’s on backs with that saddle at rides. It is easy to replace parts on it. Can’t say enough good things about that saddle.

I live close enough to Jackie that she came out to do a saddle fit for my horse. He is not the typical Morgan in that he is very narrow.
It took me a while to get used to the saddle but now I love it for myself. Very comfortable & it saved me a couple of times when Horse did a launch forward immediately followed by a 180 spin to see what he just spooked at.
However, I have some doubts on if it really fits Horse well enough. I am talking now w/Jackie about trying some things & getting it right. I am hopeful that we will get things right. She is knowledgeable & it was fun doing the measuring & fitting.
I will say, do NOT get the fluffy wool saddle pad she has if you do any bush crashing. It is a pain to get plant material out of the fluffy weave. Lovely pad, but not practical unless you stay out of the brush.
The saddlebags she has are nice too.

Wow, they look like those old cavalry saddles, mcclellans?
Are they hard on your posterior?

Not at all. I find the saddle very comfy. It is a great posting saddle and puts you in a good position. I’ve ridden old McClellans and although they look the same, they don’t feel the same.

I’ve made some mods to my saddle. I added english billets for easier cinching and I changed the stirrups out to really light endurance stirrups. I bought mine used a few years ago and it was the best thing I’ve ever purchased.

You get all that thigh/leg contact. My Arab has a dip after the withers and is a bit sway backed, I wonder if that saddle would be a comfortable fit for him.
I am intrigued now.

Have them and love them! Jackie is, indeed, quite knowledgable, and she uses a unique custom-fitting system that can be shipped to you and used following some pretty easy instructions. Lots of custom options, including color and even artwork, beyond just fit.

(Disclaimer – Stonewall sponsors me…but I was in love with my first Stonewall saddle first! :winkgrin:)

I have Alternating Current, whose sire is Marawooti, who is full brother to Cisco. Her very own custom Stonewall is being built as we speak!
