Storing horse hair for bracelet in future

Hi Gang,

Can you tell me what I need to do to to store some already collected horse tail hair to make a bracelet in the future? Do I need to wash it? Do I store it in plastic or paper bag? etc.

An airtight plastic container or bag without washing it. (I’m assuming it isn’t super dirty.)

I wouldn’t wash the hair before storing. Most designers/horsehair artists have a preferred shampoo and method of cleaning and would like the hair in its natural state. If you are making your own jewelry, then you can wash it, dry it and store it. I would think a breathable bag would be best for storage–maybe a cloth bag. But not plastic for long-term storage.
