Storing poles at the arena

I did a search and this thread is the one I found, which is very short with expired links and also doesn’t address my specific need

How do you store (or seen stored) poles outside at the arena? I don’t want to haul them back and forth from the barn. I apparently wasn’t thinking () when I built my arena, and my posts are 10’ apart and my poles are 10’, so I can’t mount them on the outsides of the arena. I walked around with poles and they are maybe a few corners I could use that are a little shorter, but I have I think 20 poles and that’s not enough storage space. I do however now have many kayak holders sitting around doing nothing in case anyone is into kayaking… :woman_facepalming:t4:

I’ve seen some fancy stacking options but it seems like the UK has the corner on the market for those and I haven’t (yet) been able to locate any here. Anyone have any plans or pictures? I am entering mowing and weedeating season once again, and while I also want to preserve my poles and keep my place looking tidy, I am also tired of rolling them back and forth to get that chore done.

I am looking into this myself. Do a search for “pipe storage rack” and you will find way more ideas than by searching with “pole.”

Those kayak holders might be the trick!

That is what I mounted in my jump shed. Sturdy and works so far. Perk is the ones I bought from amazon swivel - when not in use, they sit flush against the wall so are out of the way and don’t poke you.

I would love some sort of solution capitalizing on the not used corners of an arena, but I haven’t quite figured out a way just yet. Ideally to store poles needed up and out of the way.

The issue is that my poles are shorter than my posts, for the most part. I’d be screwing the kayak holders not at the center of the post to make them reach, and then the poles would be like…barely on the edge of the holder. Like I said, I wasn’t thinking and I ordered a crap ton of them before I checked. So now I have holders for nothing and poles on the ground two years later.

Meh.

These are the ones I’ve found on Google, I like the rack style look better but no point in me getting wheels since I don’t have a 4wheeler to pull it to put out poles.

Add sturdy outside boards to hang the kayak holders on. A wide enough board secured tightly should allow you to put the kayak holders in from the posts on the outer boards.

Just put another post in halfway between two existing posts

Yanno I just don’t think I want to do that, it would mess up the feng shui. A whole arena at 10’ spacing and then random 5’ distances?

Look at Grainger. They have stack racks that might work. I use one in my workshop for piping and 2x4’s.

Do you know a welder? My DH made custom panel holders out of tposts for the cattle panels to move our dog fence around. He welded on a sturdy base and cut up other t posts for the “racks” portion. ETA obviously you could do curves or caps to make them not so pokey for a horse
