Straight from the insider's.. Barbaro had another good night!! Up and At 'em!!!!

All of this news came straight from people who work for Mr. Matz:

1.) Michael is doing extremely well. He is thinking positive but was on the track today at Fair Hill and onlookers report that he was in as good a mood or better than you would ahve expected.

2.) Lots of good news from New Bolton. Barbaro manged to both lay down and get up under his own power. He has eaten as well.

3.) There are no signs of shock and his laidback demeanor is so far serving him well

More than that I cannot comment. But the speculation of both people at Delaware and Fair Hill is that the scales are tipping to the good sides.

There was a report, though I cannot confirm it, that while Dr. Richardson is being flown back from a vacation in Florida to do the surgery, another one of the premier surgeons was in the area yesterday and will be scrubbing in as well. Again, this is not confirmed.

Keep those chains jingling!!!

:sigh: The only thing we can do now is pray. That means we are not helpless.

Wow! That was awesome!

I’m so happy to hear he is doing well. Please keep the updates coming. The sports news doesn’t really care anymore now that the “drama” is over.

Thanks for the update. Please continue to keep us informed if you can. Jingling like mad and praying for the best.

Another big thanks!

I was hoping you would post! Thanks for the positive news. Here’s to a good afternoon for Barbaro and the surgeons.

That sounds very hopeful, thank you! But one thing…I don’t know why I thought this…but wouldn’t Barbaro have been in a sling to take some of the weight off his leg? I’m sorta surprised to read that he’s getting up and down, but it sounds very very good that he can do that!

Just to be helpful, Channel 10 out of Philadelphia is on the story. They have a crew at NB and are cutting in here and there.

Their website is here:

They can keep us all apprised as the surgery goes on.

Safehorses,

As it was described to me the normalcy of life is important. Slings are used under circumstances that absolutely need it. Obviously if he didn’t have it, it can be inferred that the dr’s believed he didn’t need it.

And a horses health in a sling is a dicey thing. Depression can set in and then it gets harder to heal. (Again, what was told to me when I asked the same thing)

Thanks Emily!

Jingling like Mad in TX! Thanks for the updates!

My heart absolutely pours out to this incredible horse, to Michael Matz and Barbaro’s jockey. Our thoughts and prayers are with Barbaro for a very successful surgery and safe recovery. What heart and determination Barbaro possesses and it’s great to hear encouraging news. Thanks very much for sharing this information as obviously, there are many, many kind, concerned people out there who care very much. Godspeed.

xctrygirl -

thanks so much for the updates!

i also wanted to say thanks for the photos and news yesterday. I mentioned in the thread in the H/J board - my uncle is the equine ambulance driver at Pimlico, and he drove Barbaro to NB. Thanks for noticing that the ambulance was being so careful - I’m sure he did his best to keep Barbaro safe and to travel quickly!

I bookmarked your photos of the ambulance on the road. I’m hoping the story ends as well as is possible, and I can share the photos with my uncle as he remembers the day he helped take care of an amazing horse!

Keep the updates coming - thanks again!
