BIG JINGLES FOR BARBARO!!!
Thank you to everyone who is keeping all of us updated! I live in San Antonio and they had the most horrific picture of another horse at the track here with two broken legs, on the font page of the paper this morning. I started crying in Starbucks!
Been thinking about the beautiful boy all day. Keeping good thoghts!

Apparently still in surgery. Espm says they will update as soon as it ends. Reporters standing by.
They did say Dr Richardson says it was the most catastrophic he has ever seen.
They’re also covering it on TVG or at least giving reports.
ESPN News is on channel 207 on DirecTv.
HRTV just said as soon…
as anything is heard they will cut to it right away! WOW thats a long time, almost 5 hours?? Praying his recovery goes well!!!
The latest - no updates, he’s been is surgery since 1PM. They say it’s a good sign he’s still in surgery, that if it was really bad they would’ve “pulled the plug early”.
Here we go… no updates… they’re talking to Jeannine Edwards… he’s still in surgery.
Saying that it must be good that they’re still working on him… if it was unfixable they would have pulled the plug earlier.
That’s hopeful
Yikes, they gave him odds of 50/50 for survival.
Dr Richardson…" we will attempt to perform a fusion of the joint."
50/50 chance of survival going in… thhat’s more than I thought…
They say the real test will be when he puts weight on it … they could go through all this and he could still be put down if the leg doesn’t support the weight. That’s all the news for now.
Update was…he is still in surgery. No news yet.
Ugh, back to NASCAR. Now we have to wait until surgery is over.
I can’t believe this happened to this horse. I’m hitting the denial stage now.
Well that press conference was a lot of ado about nothing. No real new info except that he’s still in surgery.
Actually those are pretty good odds. Better than I would have thought. But I think that’s just for him getting through surgery. There’s the recovery from anesthesia, then attempting to stand, then the long time while the injury heals which can lead to complications like founder and colic.
I think he has a good team of people helping him and it sounds like he’s mentally a horse that allows people to help him, so jingles/good vibes/prayers that it works out for the best for him.
Dr Dean Richardson operated on a horse of mine about 4 years ago. He too was on the table for over four hours. This was not a live-saving procedure (my horse) so it must be fairly safe to do. Under the circumstances I believe that no news is good news.
Jingling big time in Virginia!
