Sorry to be so thick. I’ve logged in and found the FEI page you found. Apparently my USEF membership won’t allow me to watch the replays or even a full screen of the live stream.
Are you able to watch the replays?
I have a paid CMH membership and the stream has worked great. I don’t think a USEF membership has ever allowed replay access.
Mine has. I’ve watched the replays of the WIHS equitation and jumper classes, the USEF Medal finals, the USEF Talent Search (West and East) etc…
I think that since the NHS isn’t in the USEF section of CMH, that a CMH membership will be required to watch the Maclay.
I don’t see it in the USEF section either.
That seems like it would be an unbelievably bad PR move by the USEF if members are allowed to watch all kinds of other content, but have to pay extra to watch the oldest and most prestigious equitation class at the National Horse Show.

It seems to me as if USEF members will have to pay CMH to watch any class in the NHS.
Hopefully someone with better internet skills than I have, will find some way around the problem, if there is one.

Why? It’s not the USEF medal; it’s just another class a horse show in “their” eyes.
Yes, I do realize that paying CMH would allow me to watch. Not worth it to me though.

The USEF has been making a lot of noise in the last couple of years about being more inclusive and adding outreach stuff and trying to encourage more people to get involved.
So I would say they would be cutting out their nose to spite their face to skip the live stream on the grand finale of the indoor horse show season for hunters and jumpers in the United States.
If, in fact, that is what they plan to do.

Well, if the NHS sold the rights to CMH there isn’t much USEF can do about it now.
I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I mean, I certainly agree with you, but they haven’t proven anything different to us in quite some time, if ever.
I am also just grumpy with the constant CMH bashing. I have ZERO affiliation with them other than being a happily paying customer now for years, but it costs tremendous amounts of money to stream the volume they do, to say nothing of the organization and archives they provide.
I personally would find $20 a very fair price to pay for Maclay streaming for the day, especially given that that would give me 29 additional days of watching archives, live streams, and so on. (P.S. If you’re worried about giving them your payment info, pay via PayPal as I have—if I ever want to cancel, I can cancel the recurring payment through PayPal, no questions asked.)

I’ve had no issues with CMH’s streaming of USEF content. Just saying…
I don’t do the pay pal thing and don’t want to start now. I was just hoping to watch. I’ll certainly live if I can’t.

I would say if so many people have a problem trying to figure out how to make the lifestream work, or navigating their website, or watching the classes that are supposed to be available, that’s on CMH.
It’s not as if there are only been one or two complaints from one or two people over the years.

“So many people”? I think we know, in any sort of review scenario, people are only vocal when they have an issue.
Why wouldn’t they be vocal if they can’t get the thing to work?

You’re missing my point: why would the countless people who have no issues feel the need to post?
They wouldn’t.
That doesn’t change the fact that quite a few people do seem to have problems using it, as we see virtually every time the subject of one of their live streams comes up here on the BB.

I ignorantly assumed that the Maclay would be available to USEF members. It seems that is not the case. CMH must have bought the rights to the entire broadcast of the NHS. CMH did and USEF didn’t, that’s it then.
No! Just that the people who have issues using CMH are not indicative of the population or the service as a whole, that’s all.
And P.S. I will be in Asia for work next weekend and will not be watching the Maclay. If you would like to use my login should it not be available via USEF, send me a DM.
