Hi everyone–wondering if anyone has ever come across a string/cord girth with spring-loaded buckles? (Or the ability to buy the buckles separately and change them out?) Thank you!
You wouldn’t find such a thing because that kind of buckle is bulky and slips.
I think they’re talking about the clik type, same type of buckle as normal just the “tongue” is spring loaded into the up position.

Could someone explain to me how such a buckle works? I’ve never seen one.
There is a spring mechanism so the tongue is always “wanting” to be closed, but it’s not particularly strong. So if you are tightening a girth you can pull up on the strap, the tongue will come loose from the hole, and stay in place to drop easily into the next hole. Very handy for those of us with weaker hands and shorter fingers.

I presume that should the spring mechanism fail, the buckle simply works like a traditional one? Or is there a risk of the girth coming undone?
I can’t think of a reason why the girth would come undone, it should work normally.
Maybe they are one of those things that become second nature in a few years. I remember when cross surcingles where novel on rugs. I really am becoming old!

I’ve been fox hunting with the Lettia Clik girths for 10 years. I can’t imagine using the regular style buckle girth ever again. Super fast to tighten.
I have a couple of the “click” girths. I found that on a certain hole I could feel the bulk of the buckle. I didn’t have the same issue with a regular buckle girth.
