Struck breeches

Many current breeches fads are garbage but I read somewhere that struck breeches have a zipper stop so the fly doesn’t fall. Genius! Anyone have any experience? Do the gel knee’s wear off?

I’ve never had my TS breeches or my Struck ones zippers come down, so can’t speak to that. Their gel knees haven’t worn off either pair of mine and they’re 2 and 3 years old.

Do you have a thing with garbage?

Honestly, I’ve never had any brand of breeches that the zippers fall. Not saying they don’t, but I’ve not experienced it.

Yikes, I’ve never experienced that issue either (cheaper brands and expensive brands). I’ve never tried Struck’s breeches… but I can vouch for B Vertigo. Never had the zipper fall - they do not have a zipper keeper - , any tears, wash well, gel hasn’t worn off, comfortable, etc. Price point is much lower than the Struck’s as they are frequently on sale. Just another option to look at.

No experience with Struck’s but I’ve never had a problem with zippers falling either, regardless of the brand.

IME zipper fail in breeches is a function of belly stress force.

In other words it’s a fit issue more than a quality issue.

I have a couple pair of Cavallo Candy midrise fullseats (because Equestrian Factory Outlet carries them at a good price!) and I generally find the fit flattering.

But I think belly stress hits right at the top of the zipper and causes it to slide. This is definitely more likely in periods of greater belly stress like after Christmas.

I’ve never had any natural waist cut breech zippers slide because if maximum belly force comes halfway down the zipper it helps keep the zipper up.

My TS and Animo zippers come down all the time…am I special or something?

:lol::smiley:

Is “garbage” the only descriptor you know?

I ask because you made it centrical to your diatribe on your saddle thread.

Is your trashcan full or something? Subconsciously know its overdue to be taken out?

I worked in a fabric store in college. Most zippers lock if you press the pull tab flat against the zipper links. This can be done half-way zipped, fully zipped, or any where in between.

If you don’t press the tab down to lock it the zipper can unzip.

LOVE Struck breeches! I am a professional and have TS, Pikeur, Romph, RJ Classics, Cavalleria Toscana and I reach for my Struck ones first. Flattering fit that come in every size (26, 27, 28, 29 etc) super comfortable and they wash and wear great. Plus they don’t fad in the sun!

I agree with all of you I thought it might have been a fit issue so I sized up and the TS were falling down and I had a terrible case of the baggy booty. I typically wear a 27 jeans, 28 tailoreds look uncouth. 26 only front zips have zippers that fall down. literally. every. time. i’m looking.

FInally after walking around the horse show enough I broke down and purchased a pair of the struck. Light grey, as again I am skeptical that any color other then the light trends don’t fade.

So far, I would say I was off in my sizing. I decided to go for a 27, as being conservative on fitting and again thinking that perhaps I was picking my breeches too small, hence the zipper issue. The size up was a bad idea, they are baggy and falling down on me even though there is the non-slide material in the waist band (also genius). I’ll have to keep you guys up to date on wear but I do agree with what I have been hearing, out of the box, they are the lululemon of breeches!

No, there are actually a lot of products that I believe are worth every penny I pay for them. Platinum performance, Ogilvy, Tad Coffin, Rambo… I can go on. I don’t mind spending good money on things that are actually worth the investment, I want my horses to have everything they need. However, I have a massive problem with gimmicks, crap, garbage, or whatever synonym you wish being sold at high $$$$$ and not anywhere near the quality. Again, my language may not be kosher but I try to seek out people who are more experienced than me to tell me what is really worth the time, effort, money.

I had the exact same problem 28 are a little snug on me for TS and then 30’s look ridiculous.
