Stubben Bridle Sizing

I have my eye on a new bridle which is a Stubben and it’s driving me crazy as there are no size charts anywhere to indicate the difference between full and cob.

Could anyone advise how Stubben’s generally run? Horse is currently in a PS of Sweden’s High Jump in a size 3 (Full), adjusted on the smallest holes, bunt I know these are generous. Also has worn a Dover Suffolk monocrown (Full) with it adjusted on second to last holes.

Thanks!

Stubbens run true, IME. I could measure my Stubbens when I get home for you, but mine are all several years old and broken in; I don’t think you’d get a meaningful measurement. I can tell you that I have never had to size up or down when I’ve purchased Stubbens.

Dover Suffolk (and Crown) brand do run small. So if he was a Full in a Dover Suffolk, he’s definitely at least full in a Stubben.

Depending on which vendor you are buying from, you can ask for measurements. I know Dover has measurements on file for almost all of their bridles; believe it or not, it’s a common question.

Thanks Beowulf! I had already found the size chart for the Dover bridle I’m using. I’m waffling because in both the full size bridles he has he is on either the last (smallest) adjusted holes in cheeks and nose or the next to smallest. I’d hate to shell out the money for this thing and then realize it doesn’t go small enough. Or on the flip side be too small.

I did reach out to 3 different places that carry the bridle for info and have heard nothing from any of them.

Its like clothes shopping. Why can’t there be universal size standards across the board?

Have you tried reaching out the Stubben team directly? They have been super helpful for me in the past.
