Stubben Dressage Saddle Popularity

I think there has been a trend towards tack customization and adding flair. Custom I think were one of the first saddle makers to provide that service. I actually bought two new Customs in the past year with colored piping and custom cantles :P[/QUOTE]

You fancy, huh?

I think Stubben is updating their line up big time. I have something called a Scandica, but under the flap on the billet protector it says “Tristan.” It is well balanced and has no knee rolls, only pads on the flap. I thought maybe they were rebranding the old, classic Tristan. At any rate, I bought it from a consignment shop, but it can’t be more than three years old. The panels are broad and flat, not upswept like the older ones. And it is extremely comfortable. The seat isn’t Biomex, and I can hardly see why that upgrade would be necessary.

It looks like Stubben is updating their designs and working on making a comeback.

I too wasn’t thrilled with the service. It was $150 to have the rep put (a cost that is not credited towards the $4500 saddle you buy) she brought what she had and told me to order what I thought I would like - then it was 12 weeks and if I needed a flocking adjustment I had to send it to NY and pay for the adjustment + shipping on a brand new custom saddle.

I liked the saddle but I ended up with Prestige for less than half the price.

My impression is that they are getting a lot of sponsored riders because the incentives are better. At least one of the reps in Area 1 is the former devoucoux rep - and she was telling me how much better the stubbens were than the devoucoux that made all the horses sore. Considering she is the one who sold all those devoucoux making horses sore, I’m not sure that was a good vote of confidence in her ability to fit a stubben, either.

Isnt the Stubben sale supposed to start today?

My Stubben rep also charged $150, BUT that was credited to the purchase of my $4K saddle.
My “semi-custom” option was just to have the most minimal kneeroll possible as the demo model I tried was nearly perfect for me & horse.
She brought at least 10 saddles of various models & leather choices for me to try.
My email arranging her visit included a description of the horse I was trying to fit, so the demos were all appropriate.
IIRC, delivery took 2 months, she actually delivered the new saddle (with cotton cover) & stayed to watch me test-ride it.
Left me with instructions for breaking it in: no pads for the first 30 rides, clean with PH-balanced saddle soap only.
Stubben followed up the order with complimentary full-sized saddlesoap & Hamanol conditioner.

If you are in the Midwest I can PM her info.
