Stud/belly guard girths?

I am searching for a girth. I found an old thread about stud guard girths but it was from 2011. Thinking there are many more out there now; any recommendations?

For now we are using a Mikmar girth and as you can see by the hoof prints on the bottom of this girth when we go to the grass and use studs we may need a belly guard.

The biggest feature I would recommend is the leather flap or something similar that goes over the snap so there is no possible way a horse can get a shoe stuck in it.

That’s one of those fluke things that would never occur to you if you haven’t seen it happen. But if you’ve seen it happen once, you never want to see it again!

I wrap electrical tape around the ring such that the breastplate/martingale can clip into the ring but a stud cannot go through the ring.

I really like my Antares belly guard! It is durable, but still soft. However, if you decide to go with Antares, I find that their belly guards run about a size small.

Thank you! I did see one on Ebay and thought it looked really nice… I will see if they can measure the length with a tape measure for size.

I am really liking this one… the Mark Todd Sheepskin girth. My horse likes the sheepskin girths a lot…

I have the mark tod one without sheepskin and I’m really happy with the quality. I don’t use a martingale or other attachment so I removed the strap that holds them.
my friend has the antares and I agree, it runs SMALL (luckily for her I have practice doing up girth’s that only just fit).
