Stuebben equisoft girth - long billets

I have seen good reviews for this [ridiculously expensive] girth for dressage. Does anyone have any experience with it for an AP saddle? It looks alittle funny for dressage, but even funnier with long billets, but I don’t care if it will make the fella comfy (he is getting older and deserves comfort). Horse doesn’t wear shoes and we don’t jump anything more than the occasional small log on the trail, so I don’t have to worry about hooves getting caught in the girth.

I haven’t used the long billet version, although I want to get my hands on one at some point to try with my jump saddle once my local rep has the new stud girth variant for me to try.

BUT I find that it helps stabilize my saddle better without having to be super tight. I can’t say anything as far as horse comfort, my boy makes angry faces no matter what (and we’ve checked and treated ulcers, his saddle fits beautifully, regular body work and chirp, he just doesn’t like girths). It can rub though. Even my fluffy one caused a rub when I didn’t have things adjusted properly.

Thanks! I think I will give it a try.

I do hear how important it is to adjust this girth correctly, but I’m not finding instructions on exactly what is correct. I understand that it should be looser on the sides than a standard girth, but, what does “looser” mean?

I have felt it out as I go. Do not do it as tight as you can, that is for sure, but definitely snug. I can usually pull the sides out a bit with minimal effort. If I go a hole looser my pads will shift around. I think the big thing is that I don’t retighten it after I’m on the horse like I would with a standard girth.
