Sucha was at the right place at the right time today

Today Sucha our Golden Retriever was at a local grade school as the center piece of a class on therapy dogs. The school wanted a real therapy dog to be there so Sucha volunteered.

After the two classes were completed an emergency occurred in another class room. A child was having a seizure. The child’s condition of being subject to seizures was known by the school.

Sucha was requested to intervene, which she did. She went to the child, setting next to her letting her touch her which calmed the child who recovered quickly.

When child’s mother arrived to take the child to emergency room, the kid was playing with Sucha who was not shaken by the incident, just another day at work.

Good job, Sucha! :kissing_heart: And clanter!

Not me but wife and older daughter have been doing a monthly intro to animals class for the grade school, this is a program started by a local vet, it has a complete guideline that he created (this vet is our small animal vet, also younger daughter works in his clinic as a vet tech, she does not need the job but back years ago when she needed a job this vet hired her as tech, she likes the job and remembers when she was needing a job this vet hired her )

When they came home yesterday it was later than expected that is when both said Sucha was needed to work with a special needs girl who was having a seizure. The girl’s sister was there, she said normally they take her to the hospital when these events occur. The school’s nurse was on hand (also wife is a RN). Wife said as Sucha set down next to the girl at first the girl was hesitant, then touched Sucha’s paw, then started petting her all the while recovering. By the time the girl’s mother arrived the child was completely back to normal. Wife gave the girl some treats to give Sucha … the girl gave one to Sucha then handed one each to her sister and mother to give Sucha

Last month they took one of the goats and I believe next month is our volunteer stable helper’s turtle (Katie is going then also)…then its Horse time with pne of the miniature horses as Romeo has to go back to school

Sucha followed Bailey who was the dog of dogs, ever so great dog so Sucha had to up the game to match Bailey which she has done. (She is our third Golden, Molly was the first who was with out kids as they grew up)

Sucha also is certified for courtroom support however she has been on deck several times once it was made evident that the victim was going to testify the attackers have plea bargained

What a wonderful gift your entire family is giving to your community. There is nothing like sharing a love of animals to create a true, emotional bond. Thanks for the details about the visit.

Sucha has broken down barriers, she was selected the volunteer of the year (2019) for the city of Euless TX (pop 60,500) …and was to receive the award at the city hall but the manager of the facility was not going to let “any dog” in his building, the mayor told him THE Dog IS The honored guest…so Dog was allowed to enter the building to accept her award

As for back ground our kids where raised with a sense of community service being a good thing, they worked many years on the Angle Tree project in background unglamorous positions of packing the gifts for delivery. Also when youngest daughter had her horse summer camp running one of the conditions was that she was to provide scholarships to less fortunate kids, adjusting the cost in some case to Free. (the last year an inner-city girl who had never rider or been on a horse until attending her camp was loaned one of our horses where she rode the horse to high point youth at a Class A …daughter’s goal was to show those who knew the horse how good the horse was actually… this was the third kid to use this horse to become high point youth at that show in three years (that girl who was very timid and shy surprised every one when she enter the US Marine Corps…she said She Could Do That)

Little things can do great things
