Suffolk downs will officially be no-more starting July 1st. Racing will conclude on June 30 and July 1st developers will start demolition activities. The first to come down will be the stabling area.
To think of all the great horses who have galloped that oval and all the great history that track has seen in nearly 85 years; it is very sad to see this one go.
The plans are to move everything to Great Barrington at the old track there which will be undergoing revitalization and restoration. I hope they can restore it and bring it back to the historic grounds it once was but it doesn’t make up for the fact that Suffolk will be reduced to rubble in about 9 weeks time
