Suggestions for riding/driving places in England/Wales.

My husband and I are taking a trip to the above for 3 weeks in September. Anyone have good experiences with riding/driving places. One experienced and one novice/beginner. I have look and googled, and the list is overwhelming. Tentative route London for 3 days, Portsmouth, Isle of Wight, Hay on Wye, Wales, Peak and Lake Districts.

Sorry Thomas, I don’t think we will be going far north enough for your farm.

Please PM or email horse stuff 1@ hotmail.com (remove spaces).

Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions.

sent you a pm. it might have sent twice by accident - sorry about that!

We’re actually no further north than the lake district. Just the other side of the country.

But don’t worry I’m not offended at all and in fact have no accommodation available till November anyway.

You’ll not actually find somewhere in all those places but I’ll tell you “near enough”

Dartmoor driving which is actually Devon 01364 631438

South Wales Carriage Driving Centre 01792 874299

RedHouse Stables (DERBY) 01629 733583

If you want I can let you have the Area Commissioners phone numbers for the BDS for you to contact or else see if there’s any local things going on.

email me and tell me where you are and when:

carriage@freeuk.com

If you’re anywhere near Somerset on 11th and 12th September then there’s a “Carriage Driving Extravaganza” on with pleasure and trade driving classes, coaching and a few other things as well.

Again I can give you a phone number and details for that if you want.

Riding/driving places

Thanks, Thomas for the info. We are still making our plans, so at this point, don’t know sort of when and where. We are probably looking for a one time or maybe stay a nite or 2. Will be spending a few days with someone just outside of Liverpool, doing North Wales. Actually, some place in Wales appeals to me (thanks for the info tfp) as my grandfather was Welsh, but again open to suggestions.
