Suggestions for Shaped Dressage girths

I am trying to find an anatomical dressage girth for my girl, and the options are overwhelming. My saddle slowly slips forward throughout the ride. After discussing it with my fitter, the saddle fits fine, but due to her body shape, the girth shifts forward to the narrowest point as physics decrees, dragging the saddle onto her shoulder. He suggested an anatomical girth to see if that resolves the issue.

I am a little overwhelmed with all the options, I’m assuming I need something curved like a crescent girth to stop this but again, so many options, price points, materials, etc. Has anyone had a similar situation and a girth they swear by? TIA

I have a Stubben shaped neoprene one that works well, but I have a Tapestry comfort long girth for my jumper saddle. I love the Tapestry comfort girth, and it comes in a dressage model.

For the price I was happy with this girth for a long time. As my horse has grown up and changed shape I decided I wanted something a little different. But was previously happy with that girth on a few different horses over the years.

Same!! I love this girth. I have only used this girth, in various sizes, on multiple horses, since 2016.

I am a huge fan of the Collegiate memory foam girths. They are easy to clean, provide nice elbow clearance, stand up great to regular use, and they are just overall a good product. I have collected numerous over the years in different sizes for different horses and they’ve been a dream for each horse I’ve used them on.

I’ve had the best luck with a mattes asymmetric girth. Saddles go forward on my boy due to his shape, and they stay the best with the mattes. The stubben girth rubs him, total saddle fit stretch tech still allows the saddle to move, and most leather girths rub him as well.

I have found that anything with elastic moves more. The mattes has held up well, I keep two covers for it so I can switch them out, I had a cover tear last fall (over a year old) and replaced it, the girth itself is in great shape and I am grateful that I can get replacement covers since the boy insists on sheepskin.

That’s interesting. Wool lined girths slip a ton on both of my horses.

I have a Prolite (the narrow version) on my horse who has this problem, and I like it better than any of the others I’ve tried.

Yeah, the Mattes Asymmetric girth worked for my last horse, but with this one that has issues similar to what the OP is experiencing, it does not. The Ovation girth listed above works well if your horse is fine with neoprene (I had one years ago that wasn’t).

I’ve been happy for years with County Logic girths

Wholeheartedly recommend the Ovation Gel Form girth, as recommended from my saddle fitter. They are also really easy to clean!

I had two Fairfax anatomical girths that a) helped keep the saddle from slipping forward b) cracked open even though it was cared for according to Fairfax (their leather can’t handle sweat even if you care for it) and c) have no elastic at the girth.

I purchased a Solo Equine anatomical girth about a year ago and it is shaped and measured like the Fairfax but has elastic on the billets. I love this girth, so does the horse and happily retired my Fairfax girth.

I’ve had the same problem with wool/sheepskin in the past, so we have a neoprene straight girth right now and no complaints there from my mare.

It doesn’t look like they sell them anymore which is sad because I do love the bridle I had from them

My current beast is using a County Logic which fits like it was made for him. I tried a TSF StretchTec before the Logic and it gapped horribly.

It’s pricey, but the Prestige RP girth is interesting because it has a donut in the middle that holds the girth strap off the horse a bit, so I think it would be less inclined to pull into the girth groove. Not an issue my horse has, so I can’t say for sure. I found min on FB for $170 - it’s $460 new, which is insane.
