Has anyone used it to grow a fuller tail or mane? I see it’s used on show cattle, sheep and goats.
I started using this a few months ago. It’s hard to say for sure because it’s too early yet, but I do think it’s making for a fuller tail and forelock on Grundy. It smells nice and is really “light” so it doesn’t result in a gunky feeling dock.
I apply it liberally 2x a week.
Do you use a blow dryer or air dry? I see the instructions say to use a fan to dry.
I just let it air dry. I lift the tail up to just shy of parallel to the ground and part the hair along the dock so it gives better access to the skin, spray very close to the part so that it penetrates the hair, then I give a dock massage to get it distributed and to stimulate the skin.
Rogaine for livestock?
If it’s cheap, my Hackney Pony could benefit.
He has about 3 hairs in his forelock & in the 14yrs I’ve had him, his mane has stayed at 6". Tail is okay-ish.
ETA:
@ $40/qt how long will that last?
Bumping this to see if anyone has noticed a difference in hair growth.
Looking for something lightweight and help grow my ponies tail that has been getting thinner and thinner.
I have. I will try to remember to take pictures of Grundy’s forelock when I get home. The new growth in her forelock is a little different though - more fluffy and less horse-hair-y, if that makes sense.
Just tossing this out there, but I’ve got a little horse who arrived with an awfully sad tail, and it just … wasn’t growing.
I put her on a b12 supplement for unrelated reasons, and damned if her tail didn’t start growing. Ran out, didn’t refill…and it stopped. Restarted (this time just for hair) and it started again.
I have noooooo idea why and don’t think b12 is really one of those things that’s known to grow tail? But whatever I’ll take it.
Maybe another option for hair!
At this point I’ll try anything.
His tail is pitiful at the moment. I don’t brush it, and wash it monthly, it used to be thick and lovely.
His forelock is getting a bit thinner.
The fluffy stuff is the new growth. The less fluffy and sunbleached stuff is the old growth. With the new growth it is very thick, but we shall see if it survives summer.
Oh wow. That is a lot thicker.
I was doing some research on reviews and found that folks with hair loss or on chemo in the farm world use it to help with hair growth.
The new growth reminds me of a foal/weanling forelock/mane/tail growth. Will be interesting to see as it grows out if the texture changes.
I don’t know if it will survive fly mask season. It feels fluffy like foal growth.
Her nutrition changed drastically when she came to me, too, so that has an impact as well.
