Summer Barn Shoes

My current pair of summer barn shoes are about at the end of their lifespan. Any suggestions for short, waterproof, hot weather shoes?

I wear some version of Merrell mocs year round, but they make great summer shoes. Just make sure you pick a waterproof version, because some aren’t, and that’s not a fun surprise.

My latest even have a composite toe, which is a handy thing when the horses get bouncy on the way out to the field.

Twisted X. I love mine - they do come in waterproof versions, are amazingly comfortable.

Following. Merrell Jungle Mocs used to be my go-to but I had two pairs in a row that disintegrated after only a few months and they’re too expensive for that.

I’m currently wearing Sloggers that have lasted about a year but they’re a little thin-soled and unsupportive.

Fwiw, I’ve had a couple pairs that blew apart too fast, and Merrell sent me fresh pairs with pics.

I no longer work in a barn, but if I did. I would wear the new Hunter’s I just got. They are their “garden shoe”

Comfy, waterproof, should last forever, and grippy sole.

I also love their Chelsea boot: https://www.hunterboots.com/us/en_us/womens-ankle-boots/womens-original-chelsea-boots/green/7498

And yes, I have them in teal. Because they were on sale when I got them last year and who cares

@MunchingonHay – do you wear socks with these? I like them and need something for the summer because capri leggings and Blunnies look kinda … not right

Hi Bebe,

I do not wear socks. The neoprene keeps the stiff rubber from rubbing any where along the foot/ankle area. I have not had the insole pull out /slide yet either. Easy to slip on and kick off.

I do wear socks with the Chelsea booties.

I am fully embracing my octogenarian fashion statement and no longer care what I look like. But the little garden shoe does not look too bad with leggings

I’m a personal fan of Sloggers. waterproof, comfy w/ or w/out socks, fun patterns and cant beat the price. They last a LONG time. I tried one pair of the garden boots - ankle high - but did not like them. Available on Amazon and other places too.
