My friend is buying her first trailer. She has been looking for a while and has a very small budget. She very excitedly told me yesterday that she found a 97 Sundowner aluminum trailer. The picture showed a trailer that looked like it had some work done to it.
Can someone tell me what years the powder coating issues came up? I researched and can only find old threads on it. Most say it started in 99 but I did see one that said 97s were a problem as well.
I don’t want to quash her excitement but don’t want her to buy a problem either.

The one I knew that had issues was a mid 2000s model if I recall correctly. I’m not sure when the issue started though

I have a 1996 Sundowner. We’ve had to change out some door locks and had some electrical fixes. Zero frame issues. Zero leakage, I have a weekender package. AC heat still AOK. I added an awning and it needs replacing after time. I seem to recall also that it was early 2000’s that had the problem.

My parents’ 2000 Sundowner had frame issues but they were minor and repairable.
