Sundowner trailers, rusted frames on...?

I just discovered my Sundowner trailer frame is falling apart because of the paint peeling off and rusted steel. The last thread on this topic that I could find is 2012. Does anyone know the latest info on what we can get Sundowner to do about this? Has anyone tried to start a lawsuit? I am willing to join it!!! All of a sudden my beautiful 3-horse trailer (which I took very good care of)…is a worthless piece of junk!!! Anyone know something?
Thank you…

What year is your trailer? My friend had a welding shop fix her frame for a reasonable price, since hers was well outside the ?8yr warranty. My understanding is that this was an issue due to the aluminum on steel construction that was common for a number of years. Sundowner replaced the floor and checked my frame on my 2001 at no cost, about 6 years ago, when it was still under warranty.

Welcome to the site! We’ve moved your thread here to the Around the Farm forum, as the Help forum is intended for technical questions about the site.

Thanks!

Have you contacted Sundowner - the manufacturer directly - not a dealer?

Try horsetrailerworld.com…they are a great source of info on all kinds of trailers. The issue of sundowners with steel frames has been discussed extensively.

Sundowner will do nothing. Even if the “warranty” is supposed to still be in effect. Have a good welder cut the junky frame out and weld in new steel. Scraping and painting won’t fix it.
Sorry…:frowning:
