Ahhh, I forgot to take my medicine yesterday and I am dragging today. I have sooo much to do. I will have a roommate moving in this weekend, a student that turned 18 and can you believe she is getting kicked out of the house? She is not a bad kid, she has ridden with me for 6 years.
The poor girl is epileptic, doesn’t have a driver’s license yet (can’t get one yet because of seizures). She was taking classes to become a CNA.
Parents got divorced, dad just moved back from Arizona and is in a dinky apartment. Mom and kids had a 3 bedroom apt. and mom is kicking daughter out so she can move to a 2 bedroom and save money. Mom told daughter in April that she had 60 days to find another place to live.
How can parents do this?
Yep Amwrider…I can believe it. Nothing surprises me anymore. I had something similar happen. A friend of my daughter lived with us for over 6 months. Her parents did not like that she got a tatoo…considered her the black sheep of the family. She had a 10 p.m. curfew…at 18 years of age. Not only did they kick her out, they took her car, turned off her cell phone and emptied her bank account!:eek: My daughter went and picked her up. Her parents were living in an $800,000 house and driving BMVs…dad was a Capt in the Navy and he expected everyone to follow orders. In the 6 months she lived with us I NEVER hear from them…not a phone call…not a letter…nothing, nada, zip!!! She got a job at a restaurant, my daughter and friends taking her to and from work. She saved enough money to buy a $500 car and the restaurant gave her meals…she never asked for anything from us. I did not charge her anything to live with us during those months…though she did occasionally give me a few dollars here and there. She wouldn’t even eat anything from my pantry preferring to pay for her own food. We included her in all the holidays…even Mother’s Day (mom wouldn’t allow her to come home to visit!!)
Her parents were hell-bent on breaking her spirit…but they never did. And the kicker…she is one of the nicest kids I have ever met!!! I would have ‘almost’ traded my daughter for her!!:winkgrin:
