Ted stays in the pasture with his buddy Bo, also a TB. Bo, like Ted, has always been low man on the totem pole (think negative numbers here). So they get to stay together, where no other horse will look at them, causing them to gallop off (and gallop, and gallop, and gallop).
Every time we get a day without rain, which happens, on average, less than once a week, the rest of the geldings get to leave their paddock and go out on the grass. Except for poor Teddy, a 5 yr old Percheron/Andalusian cross. Poor Teddy, it appears, has a type of contact dermatitis that is caused by, or exacerbated by, grass. So poor Teddy was forced to stay in the paddock when the other boys went out for some grass (green, bladey kind, as opposed to the fine Columbian discussed in another thread). As Teddy is also not high on the totem pole, Ted and Bo came into the paddock, the rest of the boys went out, and Teddy stayed.
Bo immediately began circling Ted, protecting, his, um, “beyatch” from Teddy’s proclivities. Not that Teddy had any. He’s a young, innocent, naive boy, unaware of the perversions other geldings might get up to.
Bo was absolutely insistent that Ted was his. And threatened Teddy, who, sweet baby, didn’t quite realize the effect of his size 5’s on Bo’s butt.
