LF those pics are great!! It looks like you guys had a great time.
Oh and I would like a moment of silence for my now dead contoured show pad.
Long story short⦠Planning on going to show in October, noticed that pad was needing freshening up so I lay it out to hand wash when I get done working this weekend. Well at workā¦DH calls to say the washer is ābrokenā. I ask how washer could be broken since it worked just fine yesterday and it is a fairly new washer 2yrs old tops.
Well DH figured he would help me out and wash that pad thingy I had laid out. On Hot⦠and Extra soiled setting:no:. So the reminents from my now bald pad had clogged up the guts of the washer.
I tell DH how to unclog the drain on the washer over the phone . He gets it working again and I come home to find the carcass that was my nice show contoured pad.
The good news is I at least have a while to get a new pad and this didnāt happen the day of or day before the show. And DH now knows not to āhelpā me clean the horsie stuff anymore.
I am coveting the new thinline contoured sheepskin pad⦠think I could guilt him into buying it for me for my birthday in a few weeks⦠maybe:sigh:
RETAIL THERAPY!
I insist that you go and buy just what you want. If DH complains, you can tell him that some crazy lady on the west coast told you to do so.
And buying your own birthday presents ensures marital harmony:lol:
P.S. I can tell you where to get a great cow-pattern saddle pad.
Am I the only one getting (prematurely) Olympic horse sport withdrawal?
For over a week now I have been able to get up in the morning, pour a cup of coffee and watch the best horses in the world do their thing. What I miss in the A.M. (curse work, anyway) I can catch up in the evening at my leisureā¦I want MORE!
The only āmoreā left is the individual Jumper final. Iām thinking it will be a ride off between the sportās two ābad boysā Eric Lamaze and McLain Ward. (Ericās people have done a terrific job of portraying him in the media as the poor little poor boy, led astray, found redemption with the horse gods and now riding for ā¦world peaceā¦or something. McLain Ward should hire Ericās people!!!)
All kidding asideā¦this is the battle of the titans! I donāt even remember when two such phenomenal horse/rider combosā¦both in their prime⦠have had at each other in such a public arena. May the best bad boy win! Iām on the edge of my chair⦠(rooting for Canadaās bad boy, of course  )
who will it be??? Hickstead or Sapphire / Eric or McLain

How sweet he thought of doing your laundry in the house washer!!  My DH would be having fits  as horse laundry and human laundry should never meet.
So where ya shopping for the new one???
Horse w/d - umm, not yet. I have not seen any of the horse events on the tube yet. Dratted work getting in the way of fun again.:lol:
R.I.P HLās Saddle Pad
??? - 8/19/08

My condolences on your loss. Perhaps you could cut a few strings off of it and fashion a memorial bracelet for yourself. Nothing like something new and shiny to help you get over this shocking and sudden loss.

And a pic of the saddle pad carcassā¦
On a happy note I just have to say I LOFF MY HORSE!! Really⦠had another great lesson but my horse absolutely cracks me up. He gets really ticked off at himself if he makes a mistake and throws temper tantrums. I swear. We were doing a little line and my boy second guessed his take off spot, like he started to take off, came down fast and chipped and then went over. It felt really weird. He was so mad when we finished that he put his head down⦠ears back⦠gave a teeny pissed off buck and literally stomped around fuming⦠I was laughing so hard as was trainer⦠she said " He knows he screwed that up and heās pissed" So we went to do it again⦠he was rearing to go ā¦ears up⦠giving me the ālet me at em attitudeā I could HEAR him concentrating. We did the line again⦠beautifully and afterwards he had ears up head up⦠prancing around then starts to strut head swinging like āOh yeah⦠Iām the manā¦ā He is a mess⦠a mess I tell you⦠but I loff him anyways:yes::lol:
Who couldnāt loff this face?? Honestly.
Lurker here, but your story reminded me of my mare HL. I have a little TB mare (15.3 hh) and sheās a tried and true jumper. Everything youād list for a jumper, she is. I had her at a show last winter, doing the 2ā9" jumper division. There were three classes in the division. First two classes, sheās flawlessā¦never touches a rail. After both classes she came out and walked calmly around the schooling ring waiting for the next class to start. Last class, we go in and about halfway through, she hits and drops a rail. We come out after we finish and sheās MAD. Stops in the in-gate and just starts pawingā¦and pawingā¦and pawing. It was all I could do to get her to go out to the schooling ring and cool out. I pick up our ribbons from the different classes and show them to her, but she doesnāt want to see them. She kept looking back over at the ring. I guess she wanted another go at that last class.

Glad to know mine isnāt the only one.:lol: I swear as heās getting stronger and better he is getting harder on himself⦠(I know anthropomorphizing here but he really does!) When he does it well he likes to to a victory prance around and when it goes bad he is rearing to do it again⦠like" wait⦠wait I know I can do better than that hold onā¦" I just love his attitude.

Ah, your boy and Ted share a TB thing (at least I think itās a TB thing). The difference is he is ahead of me on all counts, so I am the one holding back the class. Once he knows we can do it a better way, I had better come up to scratch or he lets me know about it.
Sorry about the saddle pad. Maybe you need one that has embroidered on it: ācool - not hot - hang to dry.ā

Yup you remembered correctly Geek. Both with Secretariat in their bloodlines so distant relatives I guess. Both have similar attitudes from what I can tell.

Looks like the washer had TEETH for goodness sakes!!! GRRRRR like a Jack Russell had its way with it.
I loves your horse story. My old mare (RIP Rita ) was like that too.
Oh man. Thatās alot worse than I expected. :dead:
Is your birthday coming up? If it is, you could drop a few hintsā¦
Yup itās coming up in a couple of weeks⦠but if you remember from Christmas⦠and my last birthday ⦠the toilet for my birthday last year and the coffee mug and Blockbuster gift card for Christmas⦠it becomes painfully obvious that my husband isnāt exactly 007 when it comes to deciphering hintsā¦or picking out great giftsā¦:sigh::no:
I know somewhere LF is scratching his head (at least I hope it is his head) wondering what is wrong with a toilet and mug and blockbuster gift card:lol::lol:*
I remember that! I remember when you were talking about getting a toilet!  Hard to belive itās been a whole year alreadyā¦
Actually Mrs. Lost is getting toilet seats, paper holders, and towel bars for our anniversary. Move in date is set for Labor day. Here is hoping we can move in. LF
Uhhhhh - may I suggest a gift certificate at her favorite SEWING store?  Jo Ann Fabrics, whatever. IIRC she loves to sew. This may result in putting those new linens to good use.
The new house has a sewing room does that count? The room has more cabinets than most kitchens. And what does LF have in this house? Not even a closet to call his own. No garage, no barn, not even a real tack shed.
