Super fun unrated "Equestrian Activity" with Derbies and Grand Prix!

I have seen a lot of little weekend shows pop up at various Barns on the West Coast this weekend. I went to one of these unrated equestrian activities, not allowed to call it a horse show. A bunch of friends just getting together to compete with no ratings, there was a ride and drive, there was a small Grand Prix, there were Hunter derbies, and even a Nations cup styled jumper class. Also, there were regular divisions for short stirrup to and 3"6 hunter types. A nice little practice show, I don’t even think anyone picked up their ribbons although they were available. About 80 horses, everyone had such a fun time. It’s what horse shows were supposed to be! No stress, host barn provided free food, Sat. nite exhibitors party. Just friends all competing and showing together. A great little schooling opportunity as we get ready to go back to the shows in the next couple of weeks. That’s what horse showing should be all about!
