There are two horses on my farm who suffer from winter founder. After several years of trying to figure out why they get laminitic only in the winter, and noticing that bute and banamine don’t seem to do much, I have learned about winter founder. So we are getting hoof boots and shipping boots to keep legs and feet warm but I’ve also read that adaptogenic herbs can help regulate cortisol levels. Has anyone had any success with a particular supplement? Both horses are on thyroxin and one horse is also on Prascend. They are also fed a low NSC diet and are not laminitic during the summer so I am really just looking for something to help them with the stress from the cold in the winter.
Jiaogulan seems to have some support behind it.
