Supportive rubber boots?

We have been having so much rain that the husband is looking for a pair of rubber type boots. He needs them to have pretty good support in the footbed, though. Things made like Crocs are no-gos.

I had him look at Mucks, which he liked till he saw the price tag.

Is there anything similar we can check out?

In these things quality doesn’t cost, it pays. Buy low end crap from Walmart and have sore feet. Or buy something of good quality and have happy feet. Buyer’s choice, don’t you know!

I’ve had Muckboots and they were good. I got a pair of these for Christmas http://www.nobleoutfitters.com/products/muds-cold-front-mens-high . They are not cheap but are of good quality, good foot support, warm, and have an aggressive tread for walking in mud (and TN mud is like walking in grease  ). The tread is aggressive enough that I would not wear them while mounted.

Good luck searching for something that works.

I have painful feet, and have to wear shoes with good support. I wear Muck boots, I think the model is called scrub. They are very comfortable and have been great for my feet. My pocketbook, not so much:) In shoes, as in most everything else in life, you get what you pay for.

I’ve worn these boots and insoles for hours on my feet working on a dairy farm. I’ve been wearing them for years, still no sore feet/legs.

Price is hard to beat.

i like my boggs, they are rated for 30 below and have good tread for slick conditions. they are bulky and not for ridding just working or hunting. Still like stated before not the cheapest but worth the investment.

if he isn’t convinced price is worth it he can try dr.shoals and he can say “are you gellin?” lol

One other thing I’ve always gone for in my rubber boots is a reinforced toe. I don’t know if these higher-end boots have that, it isn’t stated in the specs. I used to wear the flimsiest girlie gumboots to the barn as a kid, and I got stepped on every once in a while. A plain rubber boot has no protection at all, less than a leather boot, even.

Bogs are wonderful. And on sale on 6pm today. Worth the $$ full price but doubly so on sale.

Your DH needs to understand you pay for quality footwear and it is well worth it. I have lived on a farm for 30 years, I know the drill.

I don’t do steel toes after I saw a person get stepped on by a draft horse and have their toes severed. The steel bent down and just cut off the toes. Nasty. That was off putting! I heard later the hospital was able to reattach but still, ugh. The whole thing was horrible. I have had toes stepped on and broken before of course but that was a whole new level of awfulness.

I have the ones Becky S linked to, and I think they’re pretty decent. I walk 4-5 miles a day in them sometimes.

I agree with the Muck Boots. I have terrible feet but I can clean stalls and work around the barn in Muck boots without pain.

I have multiple issues. A doctor suggested these insoles.

I have them in every shoe or boot that I wear. They make a huge difference for me.

I have Muck Chore boots and Muck Artic Boots. The Arctic boots are the warmest things I have owned! Love 'em.

My knee boots are pretty much always my go-to boots. They really are quite comfy!

I buy good insoles and put them in my boots. I prefer PowerStep but have also had good luck with Sole Ultra. I have been battling tendinitis in my left ankle and my doctor told me that would help a lot and to make sure I wore them in every shoe… Even good quality inner soles are expensive.
