I’m looking for an upper level eventing/jumping prospect (Prelim/Int or 1.20+).
I found a nice youngster (long yearling) WB/TB cross (Amazing/TB). Good conformation for jumping. Pleasant personality. Big step at trot and canter…but not a lot of suspension at the trot. Does this matter? Is suspension indicative of jump or gallop?
I have known many amazing jumpers who moved like sewing machines, and vice versa, Conformation is just a very very small piece of the puzzle. I would be moire concerned with good heels and a strong back.
Yeah I don’t think there is a relationship at all. Most of the TBs I’ve had have been average movers at best and some of them turned out to be extraordinary jumpers. The trot especially can be improved with work anyway.
You look at the walk and canter. What you see is what you will end up with basically. The trot you train.
