"Suspicious IP" Message when trying to access?

I use Chrome Version 26.0.1410.64 on my computer. My (normal) phone runs Android Jelly Bean, kept up to date, with whatever browser it includes. I’m not sure of the Android version on my present (loaner while my normal phone is being repaired) phone is.

The last few days, when I visit COTH, I am presented with the white page stating “Suspicious IP, If you are not a spambot click here”. At first I was only getting this on my loaner phone, which I wasn’t even signed in on. But now I’m getting it on my desktop computer as well (both are accessing from the same WiFi network).

The last time I tried to access COTH from my phone (this afternoon) I was told I had a Blocked IP address, and completed the Whitelist request. I was taken to the main COTH page and then when I tried to go back to the forum I was booted out again.

I got in on my computer again, obviously. I haven’t posted anything in the last 2 weeks, nor have I tried to sign in or post from either of my phones.

I do access COTH mainly from my phone, so I would like to resolve this…

Any ideas? I don’t want to be blacklisted from COTH!

Don’t ever “click here” on anything that seems to deal with spam or email or security. Hopefully the mods will weigh in and clarify that for you.

The message you’re seeing and the request to be added to the “white list” is legitimate, so don’t worry about that aspect of things. We run a background anti-spam IP service to help cut down on the amount of spam that makes it to the site.

Can you please send me an email (admin1@chronicleforums.com) or PM with your IP address, and I’ll see if there’s any way the tech folk can help “legitimize” it for you!

You can determine your IP address by visiting a site like www.whatismyIPaddress.com from the device or computer you’re having the issue with.
