I got talking with my husband today about a favorite 2003 race mare, Swap Fliparoo. A basic search showed just a few foals that raced, none well. Curious if anyone has any personal connections to her and knows whether or not she ended up with a happy retirement, as she’s now in her 20s.
Looks like she went through Keeneland in late 2016.
She had a filly in March 2019 (note, the Facebook page is a fan page RPing as the stallion “Classic Empire”).That filly was sold in 2020 sold in 2020.
Then looks like Swap was put up for sale by Calumet again in 2022 and 2023, through Keeneland (2022 and 2023). Here is another forum talking about her going up for sale in November 2023. According to them, she RNA’d at $47k. Not sure where she wound up after that (if she went anywhere at all).
We were the underbidder on her last year.
Calumet is the breeder of record for her ‘24 Hightail and she was bred back to Hightail, so I presume they still have her.
Oh wow! I am nothing more than a fan, but it’s really nice to know that even at the end of her career, she is a quality enough mare that there was still serious interest in her. Knowing what I do of your program and goals by being mostly a lurker here for awhile, I wish you had gotten her!
@LilDunFilly, thanks for the links, you found a couple of things about her I didn’t.
