Swingle tree attachment

I just purchased a meadowbrook recently for my very large horse. This draft sized meadowbrook has swivel hooks on the swingle tree (used with chain end traces) instead of the hook end (believe that is what it is called) that I am use to. I have a Smuckers Deluxe leather harness with the slot ends on my traces.
What are my options? I feel that I can order a new swingle tree with the hook ends (probably easiest) or try to find new traces with an attachment that will work with this current swingle tree. Can you even get traces with a few links of chain at the end. I plan on trying to get in some showing in the future and not sure if that would be acceptable since he is not even part draft…just large! I am looking at doing some dressage and turnout if I get around to showing so it does matter to me on appropriateness.

What would you guys suggest?

google Whitmers or Wittmers carriage shop in New Holland PA.

They don;t hve a web site but you will get an address and phone number. Call them. They are the nices folks to deal with. Measure your swivel tree lengthwise and then order a barrel tree with brass hooks at the end. Taht will fit your harness with slots. They are very very reasonable.

Thank you!

Thank you, thank you. I wasn’t sure which way to go so I am glad I asked.

It is a brand new carriage that I picked up at a local auction and the auctioneers told me when I won it that if I needed/ wanted any changes, Mr. Yoder would do that for me. I guess he has brought many carriages over the years. I think I will contact him and get one ordered, then I know it will match my carriage with all of the pin stripping and patent leather. Finally, I found a carriage to fit my guy…that has been tough!
