Switching trailer tires from ST205 to ST225

Any problem with this? The 225s are wider? I just bought a new (to me) horse trailer, but I have brand new tired on my old trailer and would like to switch. Thanks!

Do you happen to have the full size? The 225’s will be close to an inch wider so you need to make sure you have enough clearance to not have them rubbing, especially when you turn…

Thanks. The last numbers on the tires are the same–ST225/75R15 vs ST205/75R15.

Have you talked to a Tire Dealer, to learn the differences in each model? Have to say our Tire Folks are VERY nice about explaining why certain tires are good or bad choices for this trailer or that truck carrying the BIG loads. Trailer tires are NOT what you want on a car because the weight is carried differently. Walls on tires need to be able to handle weight, bending/flexion during the drive.

I would not be picking tires for any of our vehicles, without consulting the EXPERT folks at my tire dealer. They have been doing this stuff for about 40 years, know what tires suit the vehicle I bring to them.

Okay, so they are actually going to be a bit over an inch bigger in overall diameter too… If this were going on your car it would be enough to throw off your spedometer, but on a trailer I would be more concerned with how much room you have for the bigger size, which if you don’t know for sure yourself - whoever services your trailer should be able to advise you.
