I soon will be making my dressage show debut with my Friesian ! It will be some schooling shows to start …I know you don’t have to wear white breeches but eventually I will need a pair …does anyone have these particular breeches ? I have their Venom Pro pull on tights which are very comfortable…and these white breeches are lined in black making them flattering and apparently are stain resistant…Wondering if they are appropriate/legal for the show ring ? Or is it better to go the planer route ?? These have sparkle on the sides. Im a hunter rider so all I have are knee patch beige breeches , and a pair of black and green full seat tights that I use for daily riding. I’m also considering getting one of the Freeride show shirts to coordinate with-all I have I hunter attire.
There’s currently no specific rule against them, but I’ve heard from TDs that that may change in the future. And attire is technically the judge’s discretion anyway so, while very unlikely, it is possible you get a judge who says no. Also, more generally, I’d say there’s a general feeling that you better have a damn good seat if you’re going to draw that much attention.
tldr if you want to pick something for the long haul, I’d probably get something else just in case.
I have a pair but in black. Only comments are the rhinestones will fall off. I don’t wear mine much, they the bling started falling off pretty quickly.
I have seen them at rated shows including NYAC. Some people are more conservative and you will get judgemental comments if that is a concern for you, as well as judges have made comments that the bling on them and the popularity of lace on shirts is offensive.
Man I can’t wait for the generation of old grumpy fuddy duddy judges to move on so we can get younger ones in who can appreciate having some fun.
I have seen some that I would only wear under a jacket in the ring but I have a cute fair play one that I feel is appropriate to wear in hot weather.
As for the show shirt …I do see many riders in short sleeves with no jacket …as a hunter rider I’ve always worn long sleeves with my show coat …is short sleeve or long sleeves without a coat acceptable ??
If coats are waived, yes. Can’t be sleeveless, but it can be short or long sleeved.
I have a pair of the Sync Dragon breeches in light blue, and honestly I don’t see them as a show breech and think something more structured looks better. Last year I splurged on two pairs of the white Halter Ego breeches with navy seats and love them, since marks from the saddle don’t show like on white breeches. The rhinestone bling might be a bit much, especially for the potential to be rather blinding to the judge in a sunny outdoor show.
Yes, you can wear short sleeves, but not sleeveless, when coats are waived. Remember to remove any neckwear if you’re not riding with a coat.
I have shown in these, but I felt they were too blingy so I save them as my “last pair of whites” kind of thing. I love bling but they are sparklier than I was expecting! I wish I had gotten a different color and could just use them for schooling instead.
I have some of the Venoms too and like them. I feel like they are as structured as I could want but I like stretchy. My fav show breeches are the $20 TEMU ones because they are thin and cool and when they get dingy I don’t care because they are so cheap.
The Venoms are stickier than the Dragons. They make noise when I post which is annoying! But I don’t post in the ring any more so it’s OK. I legit thought they were going to spook my horse the first time I wore them it was so loud. I guess it’s a good training tool because if I was not sitting properly they’d probably be noisy too!
I have seen people wear them but I honestly think they are too much (and I love colored coats/pads and blingy browbands so that’s saying something). I’m not a huge fan of sync for a few reasons but even putting that aside I thought they drew attention away from the horse because they were just so so so sparkly even in an indoor.
You can wear many many colors of breeches, they don’t have to be white anymore. I like the look but I also really like the look of black breeches! Halter Ego’s high waist Evolution are a dream and I wore them at MADFest this year.
Same. I can see not liking a ton of bling, but lace on shirts is too much?
With great bling comes great responsibility!
