I’ve noticed a lot of people are using Synchill products. Curious about its effectiveness. I personally have never seen much effectiveness in any of the “legal” calming supplements. Perfect Prep has been the go to for awhile and I’ve never seen it do much. Of course the testimonials on the Synchill website sing its praises. Looking for experiences of people that have actually used it for their very anxious type horses.
Well it must do something, because it was just made illegal by USEF.
Tryptophan, mag and all the other oral calmers are banned too but I’ve never seen them be effective at all. Valerian root maybe works a little but that one they can actually test for.
Really? Where’d you see that? Not questioning you, I just can’t find any resources.
Awesome, thank you!
To clarify the language a little… I am not sure “just” is quite right.
It was already prohibited. USEF “just” confirmed that because someone asked.
But USEF didn’t recently change the rule. Which is what I think your post accidentally suggests.
SynChill AF is the only one that contains L-Theanine. Regular SynChill and SynChill Pure do not.
Thought this was interesting.
People seem to have completely lost what my actual question was. I am not concerned about legal or not legal. I’m asking if it actually works!
In my experience, it does work. I think the pellets are more effective than the gel, plus it’s nice to be able to decide whether to use one scoop or two. I found one scoop 2 hours before riding was ideal for me. You need to give it at least an hour to work, IMO.
We use it for one for turnout. Yes, it works…rather well, actually.
It works wonderfully! I have used the daily and the paste. I’m not one for calming supplements in general, but I tried this for my very hyper-vigilant gelding and honest to god, it has been life changing for him. I feel like he’s no longer living in flight mode 24/7. I won’t go without it.
It works well for my OTTB. He’s an anxious guy at shows and it definitely takes the edge off. At home I’m careful how much I use because it can make him downright lazy
For my horse it works too well! I prefer Perfect Prep. My barn uses both.
