T-post extensions?

Does such a thing exists that would increase the height of T-posts temporarily?

The T-post fence at the back of our prop is about 4’ high. My mare can get over 5’ from a stand-still (and loves to prove it…), so there is no way I’m turning her out in the back paddock until we can replace that fence.

Unfortunately placing a electric temp fence oxer-style isn’t going to work either. Those shoulders that give her a lovely extension when she trots makes her the perfect little jumper too .

It’s not a big deal, she has her front field, it’s just that I was hoping to rotate her pasture .

DH made deer fence by buying two hose clamps and a four foot piece of pvc pipe. One set per tpost. He hose clamped the pvc pipe to the tpost and raised it to seven/eight feet. There are two or three poly coated electrified wires up there as well. It’s a lot of work and the gate areas have a permanent height limit that the tractor can get under just barely. The other thing is that the pvc can’t take tension so you have to put something else up on corners or look at bowed pvc.

What about the 5’ t-post covers that go over the entire post? I’ve been thinking about trying to cover my 4’ t-posts, seems like it would be rigid enough for that 1’ without the t-post in it and it would make it a lot safer if she did try to go over it.

Look forT-posts that are used for wildfife ranches.

Yes they do make them. I saw them at Horse Expo.

Aha! That is exactly the sort of thing I was looking for :).
I’d still feel better with a higher fencer, but 5’ is better then 4’!

Yes, I realize this is a VERY old thread.

Thank you for posting this @gilh. Those are very neat things. I am sure they will help someone with their fence.
