Tack help: martingale AND breastplate...which goes on first?

Title says it all. I have two separate pieces because I bought the running martingale first and then realized I needed a breastplate after.

I have been putting the breastplate on first, then the running. My friend told me today she does it the opposite.

Is there a correct way, or is this just preference?

Breastplate first, so the martingale doesn’t get trapped under it as the breastplate gets pulled back by the saddle.

Good point, thanks!

Agreed. Breastplate first, then martingale like you’ve been doing it.

Thanks for including the pic since this isn’t the way I do it. Cute horse, by the way!

So I’m gathering it’s preference? My groom husband didn’t even have an immediate answer lol

I’ve always seen breastplate first. If you do the martingale first it will get pressed against the chest by the breastplate

I like mine under so it doesn’t get tangled, this way it stays close to the horse. My breastplate isn’t tight though.

Love your color scheme in this
