After a month long trip through Turkey and Greek isles, we’ll be staying in Athens, Greece for 36h (in about ten days). I wanted to spend my last pint of blood (since there will be no money left by then) at a well stocked tack store in or close to the city. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I searched the internet without much luck.
TIA!
If you find one, let us know. I spent my childhood begging to go to a tack store in Athens but as far as I know there is none. Or at least there were none when I was small. But I really need to know- why go to a tack store in Greece at all? Riding is hardly a big sport in the country. Everything would be imported from somewhere else and there probably would be nothing you haven’t seen 100 times before. Maybe stock up on natural sea sponges instead. At least that is locally produced.

Because that is what horse people do when they are on vacation in other countries.

I do it in countries that actually have horses!

I’m from Argentina and we don’t get much import there. So if they have something that is imported from Germany or USA, it’s ok. I’ll probably “need” it anyways!
There really are no horses in Greece other than just a few wild herds and a few scattered riding academies far away from Athens so they don’t really have any tack stores. I know when I was a kid, every time I asked about horses, everyone looked at me like I was from Mars. Maybe your next vacation should be to Germany!

Ergo, OP, why are you going to Greece? A foreign city with no tack shops. That’s no vacation.
Have a good time… or try to.

I’m on my honeymoon!
At first we wanted to do Aachen (this, coming from a non-horsey dude, makes him a real keeper) but this year the show is half sized due to the European Championships. So we decided he could pick this time and go there next year.
He went for Istanbul, Cappadocia, Konya, Pamukkale, Assos, Yzmir, Mykonos, Santorini, Crete and Athens. I think he did a better job picking than I did, right?
We are going next year to Aachen, try linking it to Saute Hermes if the dates match, and doing some Holland, Belgium, more Germany and northern France in between. Now that’ll be a horsey trip…I might come back with more than just tack!!
