Tack Trunk Covers that fit this trunk....

A lot of people use them at shows at my barn. Our local tack shop can order them for $200. The trunks are perfect sized for away shows but are (in my opinion) not the prettiest for shows. The owner of the tack trunk thought the Dover one fit the size but it doesn’t look like it adds up?

Any thoughts?

The standard cover won’t fit. Dimensions of your trunk are 24x36x24. Dover’s tack trunk cover is 20.5x32.5x20.5

Correct - it will be too small, and the large one will be too big.

I really don’t want to go expensive - the clothes horse could do it but I think the woman at the tack store said it would be cover $200? that doesn’t seem right!

You could do a custom cover for those dimensions from a place like The Clothes Horse: http://theclotheshorse.com/tack-truck-covers/

You can also order through smartpak and order custom sizes. Click Customization is required for this item!

Awesome!!! Thank you  that certainly helps!!!

I have the Huskey contractor chest to take to shows. I bought the Dover Bandage lid cover.

The dimensions of the trunk are: 38L x 23h x 23w
Dimensions of the bandage lid cover are 38L x 27.5h x 23.5w

i am taking the cover to have the 4 inches in height removed. This is a simple seam and should cost about $15 (my local guy may do it for $5. He’s cool like that). I got the cover for $99.99 with monogram included in that price. Seemed like the best option to me since it was in my colors already. It was the least expensive option I could find.

There is someone on Etsy that used to make covers for these trunks, but they no longer do and it just says they may be willing to provide a pattern.

Edited to add: I just put the SmartPak cover in my cart with all the pieces that i get from the Dover one (binding, piping, monogram, zipper). SmartPak cost is $287.61. Eek!

I have the Husky trunk for shows, too, and the Smartpak covers work great. Also, mine was not that expensive- I got mine monogrammed with piping, binding, a zippered top, etc., and it was under $165.

I just went and recreated that order and it is still under $165, so I’m not sure what happened with yours, RugBug!

did you customize the dimensions as well?

Hrmm…basic trunk with no customization is 189.95 add customization ($14.95), piping ($19.95), monogram ($37.95), zipper ($19.95) and it totals an addition $92.80 to the base price, so 282.75 (I found the a cheaper piping in the same color that I didn’t see before).

Did you add the small? Perhaps you know the website better on how to order?

Hmm- I ordered the XL, and then customized the sizing. The customization, with embroidery, zipper, etc., added only 10 bucks.

Ahh, I see- you are looking at the Blue Ribbon cover. I went with Smartpak’s cover, which is significantly cheaper, and very well made.

Ah! I see. I was using the Smart Pak Deluxe Wood Cover so I thought that was the one that was being discussed. Yes, the other is more affordable.

Thank you guys

I think the $165 would definitely be an option for me for this trunk.

Now - when fitting the trunk, do you give them the size of the trunk and then they provide enough room so that it fits OVER the trunk?

I don’t want to get everything customized and then have it not fit :frowning:
