So, I have found a pair of Tailored Sportsman breeches in my size and 2 pairs of Devon Aire breeches in my size. What are the pros and cons of each and would you get 1)all of them, or 2)both Devon Aire’s or a 3)combination of them?
Tailored Sportsman is a very popular, very fashionable name in riding wear. Their breeches are of excellent quality. If wearing an in-brand is important to you, you can’t go wrong with Tailored Sportsman. Be warned, though, that there are a lot of models out there, and some of the older ones are out of style.
Devon-aire is a lower-end, economical brand, less expensive, and not trendy. However, their breeches are well-made and you’ll get good return for your money if they fit.
With that said, the decision should rest on how well they fit you and whether or not you like the way they look and feel. I can’t wear the very popular Trophy Hunters by Tailored Sportsman because they don’t fit my shape; their TS model fits me well, however. I have lots of Devon-aire Versailles I use for schooling breeches, and I like them a lot.
Definitely be careful about which style of TS they are. The Trophy Hunters have a radically different fit from the 2-way stretch. That being said - I love my trophy hunters but don’t like the older TS styles. The stretch/fit is not the same.
a lot of the TS breeches don’t fit me well. (hips? what hips? lol) but the devon aires do. needless to say, i’m much more apt to buy what fits, regardless of the brand name.
