I have 2 Meyer saddles. I bought both used from the rep.
I had a CWD that had started sliding back terribly, and the rep is a friend of mine who happened to be at the first show of the year (where I was schooling, then moving my saddle WAY forward, then going into the class) and suggested I try one of hers. I ended up liking two of her saddles and bought them both, figuring that my daughter could ride in one and I could ride in the other.
They are made well, they seem to hold up well over time, and my horses definitely like them. A trainer friend who switched all of her horses over from CWD to Meyers said that she noticed that the wide-backed horses in particular absolutely loved the Meyer saddles. I haven’t noticed a big difference between my CWD and Meyer, though all of my horses on on the narrow side.
One thing I will say is that neither of my Meyer saddles are particularly comfortable from a rider perspective. My Act 2 seat is rock hard (though I like the twist) and my other one has a weirdly in-your-business twist that is uncomfortable for long trail ride type rides. But so was my CWD. But again, both of my Meyers were made for someone else, so i’m assuming that with a custom configuration that wouldn’t be the case.
Overall I’m pleased with the saddles, and in particular the price. I feel that they’re priced fairly in a market where so many saddles are obscenely overpriced.
I bought a used Meyer about 6 months ago from the local rep. It’s an Act I, buffalo seat leather, I think a 2018? I think it’s the most comfortable saddle I’ve ridden in (was riding mostly in CWDs previously), and it makes me feel very secure jumping. I tried several, and some of the older ones I tried weren’t as comfortable as the one I ended up buying, but I didn’t find any of them uncomfortable. Everyone at my barn who’s ridden in it finds it really comfortable too. My only regret is that I bought the new saddle for the new horse (6 yo), but said horse has built up a lot of topline since purchasing the saddle, and the saddle no longer fits him as well as it used to. I’ll be contacting the rep this week.
I bought a used Act 2 from a Meyer rep last year for my young horse with a large shoulder. It has worked well for him so far and I’m very happy with the purchase. It is a super comfortable saddle to ride in - they do say the seat sizing runs large, I was going to purchase an 18” but 17.5 was perfect.
I have owned two - they hold their value pretty well as trade-ins etc - But the one thing I did not like is that the foam panels can add to the “bounce” on an athletic jumper at bigger heights - First time I rode big in one I got bounced off twice in a row then learned I had to stand a bit on take-off - That was my experience, anyway
