Talk to me about the drop on Ariat Volant boots

I kind of covet the Volant S boot. I asked at the tack shop (which did not have them in stock) if they were too ugly to be seen in public. I have been assured that they are not that ugly in person, no matter what my sister says.

My search is a little more urgent because the zippers on my field boots decided to break in the middle of a lesson last night. Go figure!

Does anyone have either these or the black with mesh Volants, and can tell me approximately how much they drop?

The Farm House has them in stock. They drop about 1/2".

I’m not sure how much help I am, but when they went on sale I thought I would try them to see if I liked them for schooling (I was looking for something that would work with jeans so I could use boots or my full chaps without worrying about whether I had breeches on or not, if that makes sense).

Anyway, I’ve always been an 8 tall slim in half chaps. The only pair of volants in the store was a 7.5 regular. Shockingly enough, they worked. They don’t look super tall but that is because they are not spanish tops, but they sure seem to sit where they should sit. Maybe the regular offset the height in slim tall? Who knows. Mysteries of equestrian apparel fittings. Anyway, it’s been a few weeks, I haven’t worn them a ton, but it has been for riding, cleaning stalls, washing horses and I did a few stand in the bucket moments with them, and they have not dropped appreciably.

I have the black with mesh ones. They have not dropped any sort of noticeable amount, I imagine the 1/2" figure quoted above is pretty accurate.

Great… Then I am between sizes. Go figure! Thanks for your help.

I have the black ones and love them. I haven’t noticed a drop.

My mesh/black one don’t seem liked they dropped at all (amazing) and the leather does’t stretch out like most of the ariats, which is also very nice.

Can anyone comment on size? I ordered my usual Ariat size in my older Volants, but could have ordered a size down. Do the new ones (Volant S) have as much stretch as the original front zip Volants?

The Volant S are a back zip and have less of the elasticized material, for what it is worth. They are also running taller than the original Volant. Most of our customers are staying within their original Volant calf size, but if they formerly took a tall they are going with the regular height.

This is very helpful, thank you. This is what I’ve ended up doing- in part because Dover only had my leg size in regular height. Thank you!
