Tall Boot- Parlanti or??

Okay so need some opinions here! I think I’m in the market for some new tall boots. My tucci’s which are not even very old, no longer fit me. Though I’m going through some weight changes and am hoping to be back to my slimmer calf at some point- it’s time to realize I need to chalk it up and get a new pair of show tall boots instead of having to ride around in my half chaps forever. Anyways, if I could I would actually wear no boots or chaps at all. I love the close contact feel. Has anybody found a nice pair that gives a super close feel to the horse without them tearing? My only concern about Parlanti’s is the fact that I’ve heard they don’t quite last very long (i.e. tear, wear down easily, etc). Please help!!

Also- I’m not a tall person. If that has anything to do with it. Short and stocky calfs. Only about 5’3.

LOVE my parlanti’s- very close contact feel. But if you’re buying a second pair (and hoping to not always fit into them,…) look at their outlet offerings over their standard stock- huge savings. They offer the regular calf skin but also the parlanti passion which has buffalo skin and is a little heartier. Don’t spend all day doing barn chores in them and keep them polished and they should last you (mine have!)

My Parlantis dropped WAY too much—like 2 whole inches. The soft leather is beautiful at first but I just couldn’t handle how stretched out it got. The zipper broke within 6 months too and had to be replaced, but I gather that was a design flaw that’s since been improved supposedly.

I sold them to a kid at the barn after a year and bought myself some Fabbris, which hopefully will hold up a bit better.

I have Parlantis, Tuccis and DeNiros, the parlantis are my least favorite. I actually got a ton of mileage out of my DeNiro’s, they were the softer leather. I still have them 5 years later and they have held up other than a broken zipper which was easy to replace. They come in a lot of size options for off the rack too.

Have had a couple pairs of Parlanti’s and they fit me great. But I just ordered custom Tucci’s for my daughter because she has a larger calf. Apparently, according to the rep, Tucci and Parlanti are brothers?

Get another pair of Tucci’s. By far the best fit and durability for the price. I’ve owned over 8 pairs of Parlantis and would never buy them again. They stretch far too much, drop far too low, and wear through in a matter of a few months. My Tucci’s have lasted me over 2 years with 6+ horses being ridden a day.
Just buy another pair of Tuccis.

Sergio grasso… love them

Can you guys give me a ballpark of what custom in these brands cost? I assume it’s quite a bit more than the off the rack “semi custom” ones that don’t fit my giant man calves

Not necessarily, depending how much you do to them beyond custom sizing. Stuff like fancy punching, patent/ostrich/whatever details, crystals, etc are what really raise the price. I think getting a normal design with made-to-measure sizing wouldn’t run you too much more than the off the rack.

The softer leather DeNiro’s are QUITE affordable (around $400 or less I think) and they are very comfortable and durable. I have them off the rack as does my mother, whereas typically we’ve needed custom these fit great off the rack. I much prefer my Deniro’s to my Parlantis. Much more comfortable and look great.

The owners of the two brands are brothers

Thank you all for the responses! I’m pondering the option of getting another pair of Tucci’s- but not sure I want to justify spending the grand or more to make them semi custom when I won’t have them forever. I do love my current Tucci’s, minus the terrible heel rubs they gave me at first! I finally got them to the point where I could wear them for hours on end but the days up to that were a bit painful! @Pokerface I’m interested in the DeNiro’s- never heard of them! Do they have a closer-contact feel or are they a thicker leather? I’ll have to check these out.

i got some parlantis in buffalo for schooling at home, and so far I love them. i had to go up a calf size from my Parlanti Denver boots. i suspect it is the stiffer leather. And they took 4 days instead of 1 to break in. but they are great. I think you could get away with showing in them, but they have a stretch panel in the front, so that’s questionable.

I really like my EGO7s. They’re super comfy, and very durable.

@mymarekitty I’m sorry I misquoted, their cheaper boot (still nice quality!) is around $500. I got mine on consignment as someone had ordered them and then didn’t want them, so they were around $200 I think. Anyway, the “pebbled” leather seems to be a little more closer contact and the smooth leather a little more thicker, but not “thick”. I’ve got a pair of each, the smooth leather will last me longer and are my show boots. They were a little tight/stiff when I got them but they broke in quickly and will last a long time. They are so comfortable now, I can wear them all day. This site seems to have them at a better price than SmartPak: http://www.centerlinestyle.com/deniro-amabile-dress-boot/

I REALLY like the look of that pebbled leather…slightly drooling.

Emily - Which model did you get? I am thinking of ordering the Aspen Pro’s - which supposedly have buffalo to make them more durable, but I didn’t see anything about a stretch panel in the front. I love my Parlanti’s - just wish they lasted longer. So now I’m torn between another pair of Parlanti’s or to try Tucci. Unfortunately no one around me carries the Tucci to try on.

i got the Ocala’s. LOVE THEM!
