I recently acquired a pair of expensive tall boots someone was no longer using, however they are a bit small on my calf (the foot fits perfectly). I can only get the zipper up about half way and it stops just under the start of my calf muscle. There is about an inch of space between the zippers so there’s really no way for me to just force the zipper up. Does anyone know of how I can get them to fit? Are there boot people who can stretch them that much or add leather to them so I can get them to zip all the way? Other methods or things to try? Im open to any and all suggestions as long as I don’t spend more than $200 getting them to fit. I know its a tall order, but i’d like to try anything I can to make them work since they’re quite nice boots that I wouldn’t be able to afford otherwise. Thanks
I think that is too much to expect it will stretch. You could get an elastic gusset put in.
Does a professional boot place do that?
Yeah, I’ve seen it discussed on COTH. Also there might be a kind of gusset that zips into the existing zipper?
I do have one of those- its called a “boot band” that basically zips onto both sides of the zipper to add extra space, however it unzips itself from the bottom up when I’m just walking around, so it hasn’t been working too well. I will check the forums again, I’ve only seen the “bathtub” method of stretching and things discussed which I don’t think will work with boots that don’t zip all the way up to begin with. Ill look into the gusset adding by a pro. Thanks for the info!
A full inch is too much to stretch a boot. You’ll want to find a local cobbler to get quotes on putting a gusset in.
