Tall boots for wide calves (but child sized feet)

I am looking to see if anybody has recommendations for tall boot brands. I have a pair of DeNiros that are almost perfect but I keep wearing through the zippers as they are tight on my calves. I have embarrassingly small feet (size 37 EU, 7 US (sometimes closer to 6/ 6.5) and ~15.5" calf circumference. I can fit normal height tall boots but nobody seems to make a size that can accommodate my tiny feet and not so tiny legs. I know half chaps can solve this problem but I generally detest them.

I’m a 38EU with the same calf measure—assuming you’re in the largest DeNiro calf size? The DeNiros have worked the best for me, but I had a pair of Ego7s that were a PITA to break in but nice once I got over that hump. Also, on the cheaper/schooling boot front, I picked these up in a pinch last fall and they’ve been pretty nice: https://amzn.to/3Q46FKk

Yes, as far as I know I am in the widest DeNiro calf size. They fit- I just break the zipper every 4-6 months (eye roll). I will look into the Horze ones posted! Thanks

I wear a 6/EU 36 with a 16” calf, and I can actually wear the wide Dover Riding Sport field boots in a “full”. I am too wide for any other off the rack boot in a 6, and usually too short too. They’re also <$200 and often go on sale, so I don’t worry about wearing out zippers all that much.

Take your boots to the local shoe repair. They fix zippers all the time. My guy charges $20.

The zippers can be replaced, but in my area its much more than $20 (more like $80 before tax). Just looking to see if there are other options that might be a touch wider so I don’t put as much strain on the zippers. I don’t think I have ever tried the Riding Sport boots but I will give it a try (they are at least a cheaper option than the DeNiros). Thanks!

Ego 7 have boots that will fit your calves and feet!

Not replaced, fixed. I’ve had the zippers fixed on both my four year old DeNiros for $20 apiece.

It seems like we always think oh, they need to be replaced, but they don’t. I took some paddock boots in to get the zipper replaced and the guy said, why? I can fix it.

I’ve even done it myself once, following my friend’s blog post directions.

Not a hunter person, but I have the same dilemma, small feet, big calves from years running track, walking dogs and doing chores. Anyway when I needed new dressage boots, Kingsley filled the bill beautifully. They do semi custom…took about 6 or 7 weeks but worth the wait. I LOVE these things. They were about $800 altogether. They will do field boots for you.

Ah, yes this is a good point! I will see if this helps get me by a little longer!

Size 7 is embarrassingly small, child sized feet? My size 7 s have always seemed average sized, and my size 3 friend isn’t the least bit embarrassed by her feet. They’re just “little,” like the rest of her, perfectly in proportion.

I think I have some boots to sell you. There are some New In Box Ariats. I will PM you the details. Signed-- someone with your (not so) wacky proportions.

IME, boot makers like Ariat and Tredstep do make this combination of foot and calf… just not very many of them. So you have to prowl for them and then have some luck.

a size 7 womens shoe is the same as a child’s size 5 which is where I am coming from… I feel disproportionate but you are correct that the language was less than ideal. Not trying to body shame in any way just frustrated with my own proportions. Apologies to anyone that may have felt offended by my language here!

I’m not offended at all, just surprised. Women’s shoe sizes are generally 5-10, putting 7 right in the middle, so average-sized to my mind. And women’s 7 is roughly equivalent to a boys’ 5, although the boys’ sizes are wider.

What about the Tuffrider Regals? I love these boots, especially for the price. And looks like their 7 wide would be perfect.

Last I checked, Ariat’s wide is 14-14.5” in a 6/6.5. Is there a model that comes wider than that? I’ve ordered and returned many of them and am always disappointed.

The ones I have are a 37 (or 37.5?-- Ariat has been inconsistent with its translation between American- and European sizes). The ones I have are one of those sizes and listed as a 7. The calf is listed as 15".

The tuffrider 7s are too long for me in the foot but otherwise they do fit! I haven’t actually tried going down to a 6/6.5 but maybe worth it!

I can never get Ariats to fit. I’ve definitely tried several Ariat boots in 7 wide but they’re always too tight to even zip up. I think I really need something that starts a bit wider than 15". I do have a pair of ariat winter insulated boots that lace up the front and work well.
