Tall boots with wide feet?

Yep, another tall boots post. Hoping someone here knows of a brand/model of (show quality) tall boots available with a wide foot, like a C or even D width. So far everything I’ve seen at area tack stores and online comes in a single width that’s functionally a B. Although I’d rather not go custom, the custom boots I looked at have options for everything except foot width. Surely I’m not the only one with a regular calf and a wide foot? Help?!?

Try a pair of men’s boots if you have reasonably big feet.

I have had great luck with the Ariat Volants.

I also buy mens and then pay a shoemaker to fit the leg portion. Soon I hope the sport comes into the modern world and let athletes wear half chaps and boots in competition. I will pay to buy the expensive ones that look the same with happiness!!

One piece boots are so hard to find for my max sized feet and small legs.

I’m an 8.5 to 9 in ladies. Haven’t found any mens sizing small enough to fit me. Sigh.

Charlie, I’m curious if you’ve found traditional paddock boots in widths? I’m currently riding in Terrains, having found a C width unicorn pair. With 15ish year old Lende split suede half chaps that I think will last forever, given a new zipper every few years.

Not finding a 7/7.5 in men’s?

Half-chaps and boots are ALREADY legal for competition in Eventing. They just call it “full grain smooth leather leg piece and matching leather boots”. The “half chaps” that are not allowed are the suede ones that do not match the boots.

Only one local tack shop stocks any mens sizes, their boots range from 8 to 11.

My paddock boots are Blundstonea. Very wide and comfortable.

I have Hobbit feet, so I’m following your thread closely. I will second the recommendation for Blundstones as paddock boots. They’re all I wear. I also school at home in low-end Ariat Volants, and find they fit great. As for show boots, I have not found anything that fits my short/wide foot and normal calf comfortably.

Ooh, just looked at Blundstones web site and they have lace ups, which might just work. I tried the slip-ons, but found they slipped off too easily. Pretty sure tack store has Volants, will try them on as a possible option. Only planning local shows/events in the next couple years, so they might fill the gap till I can find something better.

Sierra Trading Post has some of the Lace ups very discounted.

TuffRiders. Really nice tall boots (dress and field) and they accommodate a wide foot.

I have very wide feet and also a really high instep. This is what is euphemistically referred to as a ‘high volume’ foot. I can’t even try on most boots because my foot won’t go into them. (Men’s boots are rarely made in my size so that’s out.)

The TuffRiders are perfect out of the box - this is the first time I experienced pain-free, no stretching or breaking in with tall boots. (I’ve been wearing them for 6-7 years now.)

Thanks, JER, I’ll look for the TuffRider boots to try on. Field boots might work for me. I have a low instep, so dress boots are often too loose in the ankle/instep area. Though the advent of zippers has improved that somewhat. Still, nice to now have two brands to try.
