Tall people, has anyone seen the Justin Equestrian Windshire Field Boots?

In the course my perpetual quest for a sub-$300, off the rack tall boot that will not be too short for my 19.5 inch leg I have come across a Justin Equestrian (which I believe is the newish English imprint of the western boot company) field boot that advertises a 20.5 inch tall height.

Here they are.

I have some quibbles with the overall look of the boot and I’m not sure how I feel about the grippy patch on the inside but a slightly less attractive boot that is actually tall enough for me is still going to look better than a more Parlanti-esque boot that is too short for me, in my book.

Anyway, has anyone seen these boots in person? How’s the quality? Even better, have any of my fellow long-legged riders tried them? Are they as tall as advertised?

I haven’t seen these but I saw a custom boot w/ the same grippy material. They had just come in and the new owner was there trying them on at the tack store. I wasn’t a fan (no, it didn’t even change my mind when she informed me it was all the rage the EU) but since you can’t see it astride, who cares? If they actually fit you- go for it.

Good luck. I want an update on the grippy rubber, if you go with them!

I bought these:

in a slim tall and fit me perfectly. My leg is 20" with a 14.25" Calf.

They have the same heights and widths as ariat

They really look ALOT like a Beval Puissance boot, styling wise. I have some in my closet. They are discontinued at Beval, but still exist as Soubiracs, sold in France. The measurement of the slim calf is bigger than the Puissance, though.

The Beval boots were a lot more expensive, I wonder what the quality of the Justins are like?

They look nice, but not sure how contoured the lower leg is, can’t tell from the picture. Do they have elastic down the whole length of the zipper? That really makes a difference in the comfort and how slim and elegant the ankle area looks. I’ve had luck on eBay with used Monaco field boots. If you take care of them, they’ll hold up pretty well. I use Effax, label says it helps strengthen fibers, 2 years and counting on my boots so I guess it’s working. You might be able to catch a deal on them since it looks like Ariat has come out with a new “stretch Monaco”. Love mine and wouldn’t trade them for anything. I’m 5’10 with long legs and their “Tall” is the perfect height.

FWIW I bought a pair of Justin paddock boots and they are more comfortable and more durable than any pair of Ariat paddock boots (which is all I wore for years prior). I would love to be able to see these in person if I were shopping for a pair. With free shipping and returns on sized items for SmartPak - why not give it a shot and let us know?!?!

Justin and Arait western boots are very similar in comfort and wear. Actually, my Justin’s outlasted my Arait’s in western boots, but I still love them both all the same. I’m very interested in this boot! Please let me know if you get them.

I looked at the close up image, I’m not a huge fan of the grippy but it’s not a deal breaker. The ankle does appear a little chunky, but it could depend on the foot/ankle.

There is further information on the measurements in the Q&A section on the SP listing for these - that might help to decide if they are tall enough. The reviews are kind of mixed on there, but since you can do returns so easy with SP, I’d be tempted to just give them a try.

According to the size charts this isn’t so.

For example, for a 9.5 tall slim (my size) the Ariats are 20 inches tall with a 13.75 inch calf.

The 9.5 tall slim in the Justins measures 20.45 tall with a 14.09 inch calf according to JustinEq.com

Every pair of Ariats I’ve had (Heritage and several pairs of Crowne Pros) have started out borderline okay and then dropped way too much for me so if they’re similar to Ariats the Justins won’t be ideal for me.

I have 3 pairs of Justin Windshire tall boots (fit test boots) and I LOVE them! They are the most comfortable tall boots I’ve ever worn, like I’ve worn them walking around for hours. I have ridden in Hermes and Antares (calfskin) saddles and the 3M gripping fabric has been great. I like the security it gives. I’ve had my boots since last June and they still look fabulous. The leather is soft and buttery. I’m 5’8" and the Talls fit me great.

I have a pair of Deniro half chaps with the synthetic calf liner and it is definitely a bit rougher on your saddle. It isn’t so bad that I won’t use them, but I would think twice about repurchasing them. If you have a calf skin saddle, these are a no-go.
