Tall Riders & Amerigo dressage

Any tall riders on here using an Amerigo dressage saddle? I"m 6’ and curvy, and ride in an Amerigo Pinerolo monoflap jump that I LOVE dearly. It fits the horse well, and he needs a dressage saddle now. The Legacy that I have for my mare has a terrible balance on him, and the seat is just too deep on him too somehow. I’m thinking that the more open looking seat on the dressage saddles will work with him? Just worried how the flap will fit.

No one around me has a dressage saddle for me to try unfortunately.

I’m 6’4" and rode in an Amerigo dressage saddle for a while (can’t recall which one) and liked it,didn’t love it. I’ve found that Albion and Prestige fit me best; however, they have completely different fits for the horse. Prestige has more of a banana shaped tree while the Albion works great for my flatter backed rides.

If the balance of the saddle is wrong on the horse then the balance of the saddle will likely also feel wrong to the rider. You need a saddle that fits before you can evaluate whether you prefer a deeper or a more open flatter seat.

I’m a tall rider and have ridden in one pretty extensively. Despite the saddle not being meant for someone my size (riding in it as it fits the horse, the seat is a 17 to my normal 18, and I am significantly taller than the person whose saddle it is) I do find it comfortable. The flap is somewhat straighter than my own saddle (CWD dressage saddle) but the thigh block doesn’t interfere too badly for me. I do ride with somewhat long stirrups though, even for dressage, so a straight leg isn’t really problematic for me. If I weren’t comfortable with that and wanted a shorter stirrup I would have more issues - but again, this is even in a saddle that I don’t expect to fit me well. Some of their dressage saddles have deeper seats - the one I ride in is the classic, I think, so has more of a cantle than other models. It does want to tip me forward a bit but not unmanageably so, and if it were actually in my size I don’t anticipate it would be an issue.

Saddle fitter claims my current saddle fits the horse, but I can barely trot in it without grabbing mane. It’s frustrating.
